Book Review: Enemies of the Heart

I read this book and it was amazing. It has helped me and opened my eyes. Guilt, Anger, Greed & Jealousy. It touched on all four of these destructive forces. If you are trying to make your heart healthy this is a book for you. It will help learn how to deal and get rid of guilt, anger, greed and jealousy. This book will help you to focus on yourself. We can only change ourselves not others. Andy Stanley sums it up: Guilt: I owe you, Anger: You owe me, Greed: I owe me & Jealousy: God owes me. I love how he does not sugar coat the truth either.

Book Description:
Break free from the destructive power of guilt, anger, greed, and jealousy.
Divorce. Job loss. Estrangement from family members. Broken friendships.
The difficult circumstances you are dealing with today are likely being fed by one of four emotional forces that compels you to act in undesirable ways, sometimes even against your will.
Andy Stanley explores each of these destructive forces—guilt, anger, greed, and jealousy—and how they infiltrate your life and damage your relationships. He says that, left unchallenged, they have the power to destroy your home, your career, and your friendships.

Book Review: Healing Is A Choice

Overall I think this is a really good book. I wasn't expecting it to be as long as it was but surprisingly I read it really fast. I didn't want to put the book down.
This book will help you learn to heal physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually with the help of God. This book has a workbook with exercises to do at the end of each chapter and that makes it easy when you want to review the chapters you have already read. It has real stories about real people including the author himself. He talks about his personal life including his divorce. If you are serious about healing, this is the book for you. This book has lots of positive quotes and it also has exercises for bible study so you can look up versus out of the bible. With the help from God anything is possible. This book has helped me tremendously and has opened my eyes and made me see things I need to work on to help me heal.

From the back of the book...

Do you want to get well?

The power to heal—physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually—is in God's hands. But the choice to be healed is ours. Everyone, at some level, needs healing. In this book, Stephen Arterburn outlines ten choices crucial to receiving healing and ten lies that can prevent us from making them. Readers will find the wholeness God desires for them in a practical and prayerful way through this book.

Now including the full workbook, this combined release emphasizes the fact that we must choose to let the hurt go and let the healing begin.

The book asks the participant, "Do you want to be healed?" If the answer is yes, then ten choices are provided to make the path toward healing a restorative experience.
